Oconee River Land Trust

The Oconee River Land Trust (ORLT) is a non-profit organization that protects more than 30,000 acres of Georgia’s river corridors, forests, and farmland. The Land Trust works with private landowners to protect these natural features and collaborates with governmental entities to protect public land.

Job Description

ORLT is seeking an intern to assist in conservation easement stewardship.  This currently temporary, part-time paid position will begin February 1, 2019 and end December 31, 2019.

Job responsibilites: 
  • Drive to conserved property, and walk/drive that property to ensure compliance with a conservation easement.  
  • Review forestry and agricultural management plans if applicable.  
  • Prepare follow up letters to landowners.  
  • Applicants must have their own car, cell phone and current auto insurance.  
  • The applicant must be organized, responsible, and reliable, have good field skills, be comfortable walking forested land without trails.

Education and Experience Requirements 
  • Educational background or working experience in one of the following areas: Forestry, Ecology, Biology, GIS, or similar.
  • Interest in conservation and experience and/or interest in navigating in the outdoors.
