About ORLT

The Oconee River Land Trust is a non-profit organization  in Athens, Georgia that partners with landowners and local governments to conserve natural forests and working lands along Georgia’s rivers, streams and wetlands. Since 1993, ORLT has worked with public and private landowners to protect 42,000 acres of land and 176 miles of rivers and streams.

We love connecting people to the outdoors, whether it's their first hike or their hundredth. Check out our events on this page for opportunities to hike trails, enjoy concerts, take a foraging workshop, and more!

COVID-19 Update

As COVID-19 continues to impact our lives in big and small ways, ORLT remains committed to carrying out our conservation mission while keeping our supporters and staff well.

Thus, while ORLT's March events are cancelled and the office is closed, ORLT staff have been working hard from home, as well as from in the field, monitoring conservation easements. Social distancing has never been easier when you're by yourself in five hundred acres of forest!

We look forward to seeing you all outdoors again at one of our future events once this is over. In the meantime, stay well and join us in helping keep our community healthy by following CDC guidelines

For any questions, please email us at oconeeriverlandtrust@gmail.com.

All the best,
Steffney Thompson, Executive Director

October 15th, 7pm: Virtual Oconee River Belles Benefit Concert

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, this event will now be fully online at the Classic Center's website! A link will be provided here as it becomes available.

Join us for a fun night of bluegrass and folk music at the Foundry in Athens at our third Oconee River Belles Benefit Concert! Grammy-award winning Alison Brown will be headlining for us again, with featured guests Beth Nielsen Chapman (artist and song writer for artists like Faith Hill, Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, and more), and local band Cicada Rhythm!

The concert will be free to stream, but we would greatly appreciate a suggested donation of $10 per viewer to keep our work going for many generations ahead.

Thank you to our current supporters:
Riverview Foundation, The National, Shiraz Fine Wine, Half Shepherd Cheese Shop, Carson Advisory, Five Arrow Farms, Walt Cook, Ken Jarrett and Joan Jackson, Madeline VanDyck, Mark Huber, Dan Hope, Roger Nielsen, Richard and Susan Field, Ferdinand Seefried, Larry Dendy, John Willis, John Pickering, and Nat and Helen Kuykendall.

Upcoming Events

All March events have been cancelled due to COVID health concerns. We apologize for any inconveniences, and hope to see everyone at future events!

We'll be keeping you up to date on our April events-- so far we haven't cancelled any, but we will be taking things week by week.
